Graphic design has been a constant in my life without me even realizing it. From drawing my own crappy Pokémon cards in grade 7 to the UI/UX in the games I developed to designing album covers for my band, I've always been immersed in layout and visual storytelling.
When I'm not designing, I'm pursuing my passion for music. I currently sing (and dance, horribly) in a synthpop/post-punk goth band, THE SEANCE. The amount of reception has been wildly unexpected because our music has been played in numerous radio stations and clubs all over the world. It's such a cathartic feeling to see videos of random fans singing the songs that I wrote. Although it's nowhere near as popular as my band, my solo stuff has been my passion project, it's a lot more experimental with its genres of music. I write whatever, folk, EDM, post-rock, dream pop, contemporary classical, or even black metal.
My background in filmmaking and acting adds a unique flair to my designs, with teachers often suspecting said background due to intricate details. Drawing from my love for storytelling, I believe narratives are of upmost importance when you want to add depth and engagement to design.
Entering the Graphic Design program with initial intentions of web design, I unexpectedly fell in love with Motion Graphics. It's the perfect blend of all of my favourite skills – composing scores, sound mixing, video editing, post-production, asset creation, coding, and animation. While music remains my ultimate passion, motion design comes pretty darn close! Plus, After Effects is like the coolest program—when it's not crashing.
